Transforming a historical building with elevator modernization
When Sydell Group purchased the historic Bank of Italy building in Los Angeles with the aim of transforming it into a lavish hotel, General Contractor R.D. Olson knew they needed an elevator partner with extensive experience servicing older systems. Mitsubishi Electric stood out, providing modernization for four third-party traction elevators and one third-party hydraulic elevator. Staying on schedule throughout the entire project, Mitsubishi Electric also installed energy-efficient and space-saving VRF technology.
“With a historical adaptive rehab project, you have to have technicians that know what they’re doing. We selected Mitsubishi Electric because of the support that we received through their sales representatives and company technicians.”
Joseph G. Cervantes, Senior Executive Vice President of Operations, R.D. Olson
A reliable, world-class ride with Diamond-Trac® gearless elevators
Mitsubishi Electric also installed a MRL Diamond-Trac® service elevator. Diamond-Trac® machine-room-less elevators deliver second-to-none quality, maximum life cycle and exceptional reliability. Regenerative-converter technology repurposes power generated from movement in the building’s electrical network — meaning the service elevator can use up to 35 percent less energy than a comparable traction elevator. Regular preventative maintenance lengthens equipment life and helps ensure a stunning experience for NoMad LA guests.
